A view of the Thaynes Formation as exposed on the west limb of the syncline on the east side of the Confusion Range north of Cowboy Pass. The beds dip to the left at about 75 degrees. The base of the formation is at B. The Wasatchites beds are at W, and the beds with Inyoites are at I. Traces of the "Meekoceras" fauna are found in the rocks between I and B. The Permian Gerster Formation is on Plymptom Ridge to the right of B.
